ABOUT US

Headteacher's Welcome

Educated. Engaged. Inspired.

On behalf of Glenthorne Community Primary School, I warmly welcome you to the window into our school: our school website. As a school, we believe in ‘life-long learning’ and striving to be the best we can be; always aiming for the top through high expectations of all.

We pride ourselves on our inclusive learning environment where relationships are at the heart of our school, creating a safe and nurturing place, which allows our pupils to thrive. We also believe in developing the ‘whole child’ by providing them with opportunities which encourage them to take responsibility, lead others and co-work. Building these strong, effective relationships form the foundations of our school, our curriculum and our role within the community.

Furthermore, we also believe that the curriculum should be engaging, enriching and empowering for all children but also be appropriate to their needs, equipping them for their ‘lifelong learning’. It should allow them to learn about themselves and others, opening their eyes to the world around them, promoting debate and enquiry.

This is further enhanced by the plethora of engaging activities, within and outside of the school day, which strengthen their own individual interests and talents. We have specialist Sports and Music Teachers in school to strengthen our curriculum offer and ensure all pupils are allowed to shine. Outdoor and experiential learning is also a core part of our offer from ‘Welly Wednesdays’ in Nursery to Laches Wood Residential in Year 5.

Our ethos is based upon the recognition that every child is unique, therefore we invest in them individually by ensuring that they are well known and therefore well taught.

OUR VISION

Learning is natural

Young children have lively minds from the start. We strive to make the most of this natural quality by enabling them to experience, investigate, care about others, interact, develop and create. We strive to deepen and strengthen children’s natural abilities by providing them with the healthiest environment possible.

OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Every one of our educators is a trained professional with a deep passion for education. Many of our educators have specialized training in fine arts such as music, art and theater.
