Spring Term

Have a look to see the exciting things we have been up to in Spring term. 
Year 5 and 6 enjoyed learning new Maths skills and applying their existing knowledge through active Maths. The parents had a good time joining in too.

Year 5 and 6 has a wonderful time at the Big Bang Fair learning all about Science and the fascinating things we can learn about the world, technology and engineering. 

Year 6 investigating the layers of the Earth- March 2019

Year 6 had a great time making volcanoes by using paper mache. They also mixed bicarbonated soda and vinegar, with food colouring to get the volcano to explode. 
Year 5 had a great time recreating art in the style of Roy Lichtenstein. Children use paint and felt pens to create a pop art effect. 
Year 6 enjoyed learning many new instruments names, identifying the music family they belonged to and then used this knowledge to create a piece based on a storm. The children combined instruments to make the chosen sound and worked collaboratively  to ensure their pieces told a story.

A selection of pupils from Year 5 and 6 competed in an indoor athletics competition against local schools. 

Glenthorne came 5th overall, with Theo M and Phoebe M coming first in individual competitions. 

Well done Year 5 and 6. We are really proud of you. 

Year 5 and 6 had a great time at Safeside. Whilst there they learnt all about safety in the home, on public transport and in public spaces. We also had a go with the speed meters to check that the cars were travelling safely and at the correct speed.

Ask us about safety- we have lots of hints and tips we can give you to keep you safe. 

Year 5 and 6 had a wonderful time dressing in Ancient Greek clothing and learning all about Ancient Greece. 

We carried out research, produced a non-chronological report and then had a wonderful time food tasting. We tried: figs, feta cheese, pitta bread, houmous, olives, chickpeas and tzatziki. Yum!
